MR-GO: A “Miracle” Mired in Controversy
The Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MR-GO) opened in 1963 as a shortcut for oceangoing vessels between the Port of New Orleans and the Gulf of Mexico. In 2005 it became a funnel for tidal surge flooding during Hurricane Katrina.
