The Maritime Museum Louisiana will join 64 Parishes in hosting a publication party for its spring 2023 issue. Our feature story “Hidden in Plain Sight” looks at the history of St. Joe Brick Works, a family-run St. Tammany Parish business whose estimated 1.7 billion bricks produced to date can be found throughout Louisiana and the South. Author Benjamin Morris and St. Joe Director of Plant Operations Chris Schneider will talk about the business of bricks and the history of this generations-old enterprise. Attendees can also enjoy free beer, wine, soft drinks, and light bites. 

Panelists: 

Benjamin Morris, PhD, is a poet, fiction writer, and essayist. He is also the author of Hattiesburg, Mississippi: A History of the Hub City and serves as the host of the award-winning History Press podcast Crime Capsule. A native of Mississippi, he lives in New Orleans. 

Chris Schneider, a grandson of St. Joe founder Peter Schneider, is the Director of Plant Operations of St. Joe Brick Works.
