64 Parishes’ story “King of Olympus” by Robert W. Fieseler is a finalist for the GLAAD (The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Media Award for Outstanding Online or Print Journalism Article.
Celebrating excellent examples of those in the media who have shown commitment to accurately representing and uplifting the LGBTQ+ community and its history, the GLAAD Media Awards have become the most prominent and visible LGBTQ+ awards in the world.
“Bobby Fieseler is a talented writer, and his piece on Skip Kibodeaux is not only beautiful but essential reading,” said 64 Parishes editor-in-chief Josh-Wade Ferguson. “Bobby breathes life into every piece he writes and gives his readers access to the important and often forgotten stories that make up the richness and complexity of life in Louisiana. We are so happy for Bobby and are ecstatic to have his writing in 64 Parishes magazine.”
In addition to print journalism, the GLAAD Media Awards celebrate media in categories including film, documentary, television/streaming series, children’s programming, music artist, podcast, and more. Nominated alongside Fieseler in their respective categories are global heavy-hitters like Lady Gaga, the Netflix series Stranger Things, TIME Magazine, HBO’s The Gilded Age, Elton John and Brandi Carlisle, and many others.
