Miss Denegre or Miss Macheca
Entitled "Miss Denegre" or "Miss Macheca," this large-scale work (44 x 34 inches) attributed to Alfred Boisseau combines his love of painting the Louisiana landscape with his need to make money in a New Orleans art market dominated by portrait commissions. Boisseau lived in New Orleans for two years (1845-1846) during his early twenties.
