Portrait of Gen. the Hon. John Bennett Dawson of Wyoming Plantation, West Feliciana Parish
C.R. Parker was one of the most prolific itinerant portraitists for the wealthy planter class in the mid-1800s. In "Portrait of Gen. the Hon. John Bennett Dawson of Wyoming Plantation, West Feliciana Parish" the most striking distinction is that in the pantheon of Louisiana portraits, only one other sitter wears a fully embroidered jacket and waistcoat, and that picture was painted in Spain.
