Louis Juchereau de St. Denis
View of a monument bust in in Natchitoches, Louisiana, of French colonial explorer Louis Juchereau de St. Denis, who helped forge a strong alliance between French colonials and the Caddo Tribe. While serving as French commandant in Natchitoches, he ignored a Spanish embargo and traded with soldiers and settlers in nearby Los Adaes and other presidios in the province of Texas.
