People Dancing, Mardi Gras 1950
In the Bayou State there are two kinds of "Fat Tuesday"–one is the familiar city-style pageantry with costly costumes, scores of colorful parades and fancy balls. The other is the lesser known but no less lively Cajun country style called "Courir du Mardi Gras" that actively involves revelers in collecting ingredients for a huge community gumbo.
