St. Patrick's Stained Glass
Irish immigration in the early nineteenth century brought English-speaking Catholics to New Orleans, a city dominated by Creoles, descendants of the French and Spanish settlers of the previous century. By the 1830s religious and linguistic demographics of the city were changing and a church for those who did not speak French was needed. In 1833 St. Patrick's Church was founded and the church was completed by 1840.
