Baron de Bastrop Monument

This monument of Felipe Enrique Neri, Baron de Bastrop was erected in recognition of his distinguished service to Texas. Bastrop was the land commissioner of Stephen F. Austin's colony, and it was with Bastrop's aid that Austin secured the first contract for Anglo-American colonization from the Spanish government in 1821.
