Oakley Plantation

The Oakley Plantation house in St. Francisville was likely built sometime in the early nineteenth century. John James Audubon spent four months there as tutor to Eliza Pirrie, during which he produced thirty-two of his bird paintings. Today the plantation is part of the Audubon State Historic Site.
