The Problem We All Live With, 1964
A 1964 Norman Rockwell painting of a Black girl on the way to school escorted by law enforcement inspired by Ruby Bridges desegregating William J. Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans. The painting depicts the remains of blood-red fruit that have been hurled at the child and a derogatory word scrawled on the wall.
