1919 Rag

Kid Ory was an early New Orleans jazz pioneer. A trombonist, Ory helped define the “tailgate” style — using his horn to play rhythmic bass in front of the trumpet and clarinet. Ory worked with many musicians throughout his career, including a young Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, and King Oliver. On this track, Ory plays “1919 Rag” with his Creole Jazz Band.
