Levee camp, Atchafalaya River
In the early 1900s, Angola Penitentiary prisoners were also housed in three separate levee camps on swampy land along the Atchafalaya River. Andrew Lytle made this photograph of prisoners from one of the camps, titled "Levee Camp, Atchafalaya River, ca. 1900."
