Offering #2
Jan Gilbert's "Offering #2" is a hauntingly personal ritual piece made during Gilbert's treatment for Stage IV breast cancer. In 1999 this croton leaf was sewn with Gilbert's hair and a Thanksgiving turkey wishbone, and accompanied an Ecuadoran mountain pilgrimage and finally Gilbert's triumphant completion of treatment at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
