Andres Molinary was a versatile artist who employed a number of genres, but he is most known for portraits such as this "Portrait of Confederate General Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard.” Born at Contreras Plantation in St. Bernard Parish, Beauregard commanded the Confederate forces at the Battle of Fort Sumter at the outset of the Civil War.
