Senator Elaine Schwartzenburg Edwards
Elaine Schwartzenburg Edwards, first wife of Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards. Elaine Edwards briefly served in the U.S. Senate August 1-November 13, 1972; she was appointed as an interim senator after the death of Senator Allen Ellender.
