Uncle Rich Brown and John A. Lomax
John Avery Lomax was a folklorist, musicologist, and professor. His early field work resulted in 10,000 recorded and transcribed cowboy songs, reels, work songs, ballads, and blues for the Archive of American Folk Song at the Library of Congress. In 1940 Lomax (left) visited singer Uncle Rich Brown at a home in Alabama.
