Married photographer team Chandra McCormick and Keith Calhoun have created Memories of the Lower 9th Ward, a photographic sculptural installation capturing faces and memories of the Lower Ninth Ward. The house-shaped structure, which viewers could enter and explore, featured samples from the artists’ decades-long body of work recording local culture and the significant, evocative moments of a neighborhood. The work was one of the inaugural Artists of Public Memory commissions, a recent initiative from Prospect inviting selected Louisiana artists to produce public art. More at prospect6.org.
