64 Parishes’ story “King of Olympus” by Robert W. Fieseler has received the 2026 first place prize for professional features, a distinction awarded by the Louisiana Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. This story was originally published in the spring 2025 issue of 64 Parishes. This award is given by the SPJ to features that are recognized “for outstanding service and enhancing quality of life in their communities.”
“When I first read ‘King of Olympus,’ I was deeply moved,” said 64 Parishes Editor-in-Chief Josh-Wade Ferguson. “We knew right away that we had a piece that is not only important for its work in preserving Louisiana history, but that was told in a compelling way. We here at 64 Parishes are so excited for Bobby and this well-deserved recognition.”
Fieseler also won first place for his feature “Throwaway Boy” in Southern Cultures.
