Vanity Fair Magazine cover featuring Louis Moreau Gottschalk
The October 11, 1862, cover of Vanity Fair magazine calls Louis M. Gottschalk "Prince of Piano-Forte." After a two-year hiatus in the West Indies, Gottschalk had recommenced touring the US by train, giving two and even three concerts a day.
