Theodore Roosevelt

This photograph of President Theodore Roosevelt was made by George Prince in 1907, the year Roosevelt killed his first black bear on expedition in Louisiana. Roosevelt was later responsible for creating the National Wildlife Refuge System, of which 568,000 acres in Louisiana protect the habitat of the state's black bears.
