Excommunication
Archbishop Joseph F. Rummel and Mrs. B. J. Gaillot and Leander H. Perez Sr., two of the three segregationists Rummel excommunicated for their failure to comply with the ordinance of desegregating Catholic Schools. This story made international headlines and was featured in the April 27, 1962 issue of Life Magazine.
