Carlton Scott Sturgill works with unexpected media, most notably paint sample cards and recycled clothing, to create eye-catching explorations of sensuality, tradition, and commodification. His floral sculptures and installations—made by hand-cutting second-hand dress shirts into petals, then constructing individual blossoms—range from delicate posies and boutonnieres to sprawling, lush boughs, and have graced indoor and outdoor spaces across Louisiana and the nation.
