64 Parishes

Winter 2020

Our winter 2020 issue of 64 Parishes explores the power of the pen. We look at the work of Creole activist and poet Alice Moore Dunbar-Nelson, join a young writer as he seeks advice from Walker Percy, and, in another Split Press entry, examine newspaper reportage of violence during the Jim Crow and the civil rights eras. Other features look at a chance find that helped the Tunica tribe prove their history and the career of a reluctantly swashbuckling priest in nineteenth-century Texas and Louisiana.

The issue also includes:

Plus stories by our partners at The Historic New Orleans Collection, Shreveport Regional Arts Council, CODOFIL, the West Baton Rouge Museum, the Biedenharn Museum, and the Alexandria Museum of Art.
